Are modern Muslim fatwas (religious orders issued by leaders of Islam) fueling Islamic extremism?

“Modern Muslim Fatwa” needs to be defined. In my own view, there should not be any modernity in religious principles and disciplines as long as it is stated in the Holly Quran. In the process of modernising Islam by some bad luck leaders in Muslim countries around the world, many fateful things had been happening over the last couple of decades. Modern Muslim Fatwa does not exist. If not, there have been propagating stories by the Muslim – to – Non-Muslim affairs for some unknown reasons.

“Islamic Extremism” also needs to be redefined. It has to be defined in terms of its causes. Present day religious educators are no doubt more knowledgeable. The volume of knowledge in the world has increased tremendously due to technology and research. It is very unfortunate rather to say that some people strictly favours scholars of old times and try to justify that they would be more knowledgeable. Knowledge is something that we acquire from existence. According to recent researches, the volume of knowledge that was created 20 years back gets doubled in every 5 years in today’s context. Can somebody think of this speed? Speed of knowledge creation and transfer rate is amazingly fast.

Precisely, the cause for Islamic Extremism is NOT “fatwa” but something else. Today, there have been a lot of propagandas against “Jihad”. Some of the Anti-Islamic agencies consider Jihad as of terrorism which in Islam is a compulsory in circumstance. People who love Jihad are sometimes considered Islamic extremists. I strongly protest against this set of belief. It is Allah’s (SW) promise to grant countless rewards for those who sacrifice life for true Jihad.

Therefore, present day fatwa is not the cause for Islamic Extremism. In fact, extremism is all about what the people lack from their paradigm of thinking, faith, knowledge and wisdom. People with strong faith in Islam would rather love “Jihad”. Sometimes, what is considered extremism is not really extremism in Islam. It becomes more like perceptual frameworks in their own world. Of course, anything and everything is not appreciated in any religion. Here, what I believe to be the most important thing is identifying extremism. It is how we can manage to ease down the problems of so called “Islamic extremism”. If at all, extremism exists in the world, it’s because of all of us. Every single man has to take part to be responsible for the cause and consequences of extremist activities around the world.
